In 2008 he completed a degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, and then studied alongside the renowned Dr Wang Ju-Yi (pictured) at the Institute of Channel Diagnosis in Beijing.

While doing this he continued to work as a physician, passing his professional membership exams for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in 2014.

In the same year he published the groundbreaking bestseller 'The Spark In The Machine'. The book shows how Western science can explain the concepts of Chinese medicine and how this understanding brings us to a radical new comprehension of the body. He now lectures internationally on Chinese medicine.

Dr Keown's philosophy on health is that Western medicine excels at life-threatening illness but that Chinese medicine is superior at getting and staying healthy. To that aim, he retired from Western medicine in order to set up Space and to concentrate on Chinese medicine full time.

Dr Keown lives and has clinics in Tunbridge Wells; and his passions include surfing, growing food on his allotment and having fun with his family.
